Butterfly Wishes
It is time to learn about butterfly gardening!
During Saturday, April 26- Tuesday, April 29, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., and is free to all. Participants will learn about planting and maintaining a Butterfly Garden while helping in the Pelican Island Butterfly Garden over a two day period.
The Pelican Island Butterfly Garden is a vast, ¼ acre garden that was designed and planted in 2004-2005 by students at the Pelican Island Elementary School. it is filled with a variety of mature plants, and the garden is an ideal location to learn about butterfly gardening. Refuge staff and volunteers will educate participants about the choice, planting, and care of the plants and will answer participants’ questions. Participants will learn about these butterflies as well as about which plants attract which butterflies.
The Pelican Island Viewing Area is located west of A1A on North Jungle Trail in Wabasso.
Directions:
Head north from State Room 510 – Wabasso Causeway and continue to the left turn for North Jungle Trail. This turn is within the Pelican Island Wildlife Refuge. Continue down Jungle trail for one half mile to the viewing parking area.
